Whatcom Business Awards & Business Person of the Year Gala

Nominations being accepted - deadline for submission is Dec. 31, 2022.

These awards recognize local business leaders, small businesses, start-ups, employees, and lifetime achievement contributors — those who have demonstrated leadership, business growth and achievement, innovation and problem-solving, and have made significant contributions to the business environment in Whatcom County.

Criteria for the nominations:

  • Business Person of the Year — Any leader in Whatcom County from a business or organization, either private sector or nonprofit, who represents business success and community impact.
  • Lifetime Achievement Award — Any person representing long-time contributions to business success and community prosperity in Whatcom County.
  • Small Business of the Year — Any successful business in Whatcom County with fewer than 100 employees.
  • Start-Up of the Year — Must have opened for business in Whatcom County on or after January 1, 2020.
  • Jon Strong Employee of the Year — A full-time employee of a Whatcom County business who shows consistent integrity, commitment, professionalism and teamwork. Named after long-time WBA employee Jon Strong (1947-2019).

2021 Holiday Tree - benefiting Skookum Kids

This year, WBA is participating in Hotel Bellwether’s 10th Annual Holiday Trees, benefitting Skookum Kids.

The trees are decorated to promote each business — and our tree’s theme is ‘The Future Is Sweet!’.  We’ll be decorating with lots of colorful Christmas candy, lights and...custom 3" ornaments showcasing our member's logos and websites!

The money raised from the ornaments will directly benefit Skookum Kids. All the holiday trees will be on display at the Hotel Bellwether December 4-31. We hope you’ll join us this season in supporting a meaningful cause, Skookum Kids.
